International Walk & Roll to School Challenge Month

JOIN US IN CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WALK & ROLL TO SCHOOL MONTH THIS OCTOBER!

October is International Walk & Roll to School Month! Join us - and kids from all over the world - on International Walk & Roll to School DAY on Wednesday, October 8th (or an alternative date of your school's choice).  We also encourage you to walk & roll to school or anywhere (from home or from a drop-off spot a reasonable distance away from school), as often as you can this school year, and to complete our "Step Your Way to Safety Challenge" to learn or reinforce how to be safe while doing so.

Schools, please REGISTER HERE to participate in Sonoma County's event and receive printed posters, swag, and be included on the list of schools sent to law enforcement and the media!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL WALK & ROLL TO SCHOOL MONTH:

1.    PARTICIPATE IN YOUR SCHOOL'S INTERNATIONAL WALK & ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY EVENT! Your school may celebrate on Wednesday October 8th, or they may choose an alternative date. On that day, travel to school by your human power - walk, bike, scooter, skateboard, skates, unicycles, wheelchair - either from home or from a drop-off spot at least a ~10 minute walk from school.  And have fun!

2.   COMPLETE AND SUBMIT OUR OCTOBER "STEPS TO SAFETY" CHALLENGE ACTIVITY FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A GIFT CARD FOR A FAMILY ICE-CREAM OUTING!

  • Download the Walk & Roll Steps to Safety Challenge Sheet:  English PDF   Spanish PDF  English JPG  Spanish JPG
  • As you walk and roll through the month of October, show us how you learned about safety along the way by coloring in the safety challenge "steps" that you completed.
  • Submit to Safe Routes to School, as directed (may be submitted via email or the mail), by Wednesday November 5th.
  • ALL October Challenge submissions will be entered into a drawing for a family ice-cream outing.
  • Winners will be announced in November, and a gift card for an ice-cream outing will be given or mailed directly to winners.
